RECONECT at the NAIAD project General Assembly Meeting
The NAIAD project General Assembly Meeting took place from 21st to 23rd January 2019 in Ljubljana (Slovenia). The event consisted of internal meetings between sister project Coordinators and the European Commission (EC), as well as of other meetings, all aiming at enhancing cooperation activities with similar EC projects in relation to Nature Based Solutions (NBS).
On the first day there was a workshop that discussed synergies in relation to common indicators and methods for evaluation of NBS performance.
The second day focussed on frameworks to assess the performance of NBSs. The day started with presentations by NAIAD project partners and professionals from related NBS projects on their approaches to indicators and NBS’ performance assessments. In the afternoon, the meeting continued with a session on four EC sister projects’ approach to indicators, in which Zoran Vojinovic presented the list of indicators and accompanying selection tool that have been developed within RECONECT in support to co-monitoring and co-evaluation activities. Presentations were followed by group sessions to discuss the role and importance of indicators on the meaningful evaluation of NBS performance. Outcomes of the sessions were then discussed in a plenary meeting followed by parallel sessions on how the EC sister projects plan to integrate the discussed physical, social, and economic indicators in their work.
The last day of the meeting focussed on the exchange of information and experiences with experts from abroad in the field of river restoration and NBS. As part of the program, Zoran Vojinovic also gave another presentation on the Room for the River Program, a key reference for the RECONECT project.
