Laddaporn Ruangpan and Zoran Vojinovic (IHE Delft) wrote a joint paper on Nature Based Solutions with members of other European Commission projects on NBS (OPERANDUM, Phusicos and Naiad).
The scientific paper “Nature-Based Solutions for hydro-meteorological risk reduction: A state-of-the-art review of the research area” is now under discussion for the important journal Natural Hazards and Earth System Sciences (NHESS).
Natural hazards occur almost daily and the situation is likely to become worse: new concepts such as Ecosystem-based Adaptation, Green Infrastructure and/or Nature-Based Solutions have emerged as effective means to respond to such challenges. These solutions have already proven to be valuable in providing hydro-meteorological risk reduction. However, there are still many areas where further research is needed in order to promote their upscaling and to make them become mainstream solutions…
